Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner | Bikini Masters Olympian

Janine L. Herrera is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner here at NuLife Institute. With a strong foundation in critical care and over a decade of hands-on clinical experience, Janine brings a rare blend of medical precision, leadership, and passion for whole-person wellness to her role.

Her career began at the bedside, providing acute care in high-pressure ICU environments across leading institutions such as Baptist Health, South Miami Hospital, and Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. She played a vital role on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, managing hundreds of critically ill patients and helping navigate the chaos of an overwhelmed healthcare system. That chapter in her life not only strengthened her clinical expertise but also sparked a deep commitment to functional and preventative medicine.

As her career evolved, Janine transitioned into the wellness and hormone optimization space, where she now specializes in BHRT, testosterone replacement therapy, HGH, peptide optimization, erectile dysfunction treatments, PRP , along with comprehensive male and female health aging strategies. She works with individuals through all stages of aging, believing deeply in patient education and evidence-based care tailored to each person’s goals, lifestyle, and biology.

Janine’s overarching philosophy revolves around helping her patients extract the utmost fulfillment from their lives. By focusing on hormone balance and optimizing bodily functions, she aims to create a state of optimal well-being that permeates every aspect of life. Her commitment to health extends beyond the boundaries of traditional medicine, embracing a comprehensive approach that includes nutrition, lifestyle modifications, and hormonal harmony as keys to unlocking each individual’s full potential.

Parallel to her clinical accomplishments, Janine has achieved national recognition as an IFBB Pro Bikini athlete. She earned not one but two pro cards just four months after stepping on stage for the first time at the Pittsburgh North Americans Nationals. In 2023, Janine achieved a career milestone by placing second at the Masters Olympia—currently ranking her the #2 Masters Bikini competitor in the world.

Her journey through competitive bodybuilding was more than a personal triumph—it became a physical expression of her passion for wellness and discipline. The mindset, nutrition science, and consistency required to succeed on stage mirror the very principles she promotes in patient care.

Janine is also a proud single mother of three daughters. Born and raised in Trinidad & Tobago, she has called South Florida home for over 30 years. Her life is a testament to resilience, determination, and purpose—from ICU nurse to national stage, from mother to mentor.

In every role she serves—clinician, competitor, or caregiver—Janine leads with integrity, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to helping others feel and live their best. She eagerly awaits the opportunity to join you on your personal wellness journey. Together, you can explore the possibilities and embark on a path toward improved health, vitality, and fulfillment.
