At UT Austin, she worked in the TIES Lab, using mobile technology to study how family relationships and stress affect health. She then joined Florida International University’s Summer Treatment Program, where she led behavioral interventions for children with learning and behavioral challenges, coached parents, and guided a team of counselors. Most recently, Karissa worked at Forward, an AI-powered healthcare startup, where she assisted physicians, optimized workflows, and contributed to innovative, tech-driven patient care.
